2 Days overdue, The wheels on the bus go round and round…

Our due date was two days ago now. This evening had been filled with what my partner is describing as “period pains”. Of course they’re obviously not with her being 9 months pregnant, but seem like a good a way as any to describe them. Intermittent pains in her back the and left side of her rib cage. Im not really sure what to think of these, and I keep asking get if she thinks they are contractions. But with neither of us having been through this before neither of us honestly know!

It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster of emotions today. P has been in tears several times and gets concerned when the baby isn’t wiggling around. Which resulted in me laying on the bed next to her singing “The wheels on the bus” and other nursery rhymes to her belly for half an hour. Im not gonna lie, I quite enjoyed it actually!

The day has also brought with it a downer as my dad text me this morning with the sad news that his cousin had died in Ireland. They have been very close all their lives so hes understandably quite upset. He came round a few hours later and we spent some time looking for flights for tomorrow, so he could attend the funeral on Tuesday morning. We didn’t have any luck though with such short notice so close top the Christmas period.

Anyway, with all these mini contractions this evening it’s quite possible tonight may even be the night! Going to try and get some sleep now in case I have to take a trip to the hospital in the middle of the night…
